Who we are
Seagull is built by Bird Labs. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
What data we collect
Account information: When you sign up, we collect your email address and name through our authentication provider, Clerk.
Usage metrics: We track playback seconds to manage your subscription usage.
Language preferences: We store your selected source and target languages to personalize your experience.
Payment information: Payments are processed by Stripe. We never store your credit card numbers or full payment details — Stripe handles all of that securely.
Audio data
We do not use, store, or train on any audio data. Audio is streamed in real-time to our speech-to-text provider (Soniox) for transcription and is never saved, logged, or used for model training — by us or our providers.
Analytics
We use PostHog for anonymous usage analytics to understand how people use Seagull and improve the product. This data is aggregated and does not include personal information or audio content.
Third-party services
Seagull relies on the following third-party services:
- Clerk — Authentication and account management
- Stripe — Payment processing
- Soniox — Speech-to-text transcription
- Cartesia — Text-to-speech (beta feature)
- PostHog — Anonymous usage analytics
Each of these services has their own privacy policy. We only share the minimum data necessary for each service to function.
Data retention
We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you'd like your data deleted, just let us know and we'll take care of it.
